Bamberg – Franconian Rome
Bamberg, the 1000 year old imperial and bishop’s residence, is one of the most beautiful and romantic towns in Germany. Bamberg lies in the broad basin of the River Regnitz, near to its confluence with the River Main. Like Rome, the town lies on seven hills and, like Venice, it is dissected by numerous waterways.
The UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its unique historical gems, important museums, theatres and cultural diversity, attracts tourists from all over the world, and is also a great setting for conferences and seminars.
Despite all its history and romance, Bamberg is not only favoured by fantastic transport links, but is also a lively and youthful town with a diverse economy, expansive trade and well-known industries. It is also the home of the Otto-Friedrich University, an institution that focuses on humanities, social sciences and business.
